Castor oil is of great importance across the globe as it can be used for a variety of purposes. It is most commonly used in the production of cosmetics, soaps, paints, rubber, paper, plastics, pharmaceuticals, perfumes, lubricants, textiles, and food, among others. It comes from a plant called Ricinus communis. Since the oil extracted from the seeds of this plant is highly valued, it is grown in different countries, especially India, China, and South Africa, which export castor oil all over the world and earn a huge amount of revenue every year. According to statistics, this market is set to grow significantly in a few years.
Recently, our client in South Africa ordered a 10-20 TPD small oil production line to process castor beans. He is a farmer in South Africa who grows large castor plants. He purchased this castor oil processing machine to produce crude castor oil for sale.
The main equipment included in the small castor oil mill plant has sheller, cooker, oil press machine, plate and frame oil filter machine and screw conveyor.

Castor Oil Extraction Process
For many castor farmers or small or mini oil mill plant, how to produce castor oil with low cost and easy operation has always been their main concern. Actually, castor oil can be extracted by many methods, but the most cost-effective castor oil extraction process is mechanical pressing, which uses a screw press to squeeze the oil from the seeds. Therefore, many castor farmers or small oil mill plant are equipped with small oil production lines to start or expand their castor oil manufacturing business. The following details the main steps of a small castor oil mill plant.
Castor seed shelling: The castor shell is crushed by the squeezing action of the roller to separate the castor seeds.
Castor seed cleaning: Various impurities are removed by screening, air separation, magnetic separation and other methods.
Castor seed cooking: refers to the processes of wetting, heating, steaming, frying, etc.
Castor oil pressing: A screw oil press is used to squeeze the castor seeds to extract oil by mechanical pressure.
Castor oil filtration: Remove organic impurities contained in crude castor oil.
The above is the most common castor oil production process for small oil mill plant. But this is just a reference. In some cases, the castor oil production process also includes a small oil refinery.
